5 APRIL: SINGAPORE A passenger on a Qantas flight from Sydney to Singapore started to mumble threats about bringing the airplane down with the power of his mind. He was restrained.


6 APRIL: SALT LAKE CITY


Aboubacar Soumah, 39, was arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching a teenage girl on a Delta flight from Atlanta to Salt Lake City. The girl had reported the behaviour to


the flight attendant, who later confirmed that Soumah had touched the girl and asked her for sexual favours.


7 APRIL: DENVER


Mohammed al-Madadi, a third secretary at the Qatari Embassy in Washington, caused concern on a United Airlines flight en route from Washington to Denver, when he concealed himself in the restroom of the flight and made comments about shoe bombers to an air marshal. The aircraft was escorted in to land at Denver and the passenger was restrained. The FAA sent a message to all airborne aircraft: "Attention all aircraft! Be advised: A US Air Carrier has reported a passenger has attempted to ignite his shoes on fire. All pilots are asked to maintain expert vigilance and report any anomalies to ATC immediately!"


11 APRIL: VARANASI, INDIA A man, dressed as a holy man, aboard a Jet Airways flight en route from Delhi to Varanasi, became embroiled in an argument with another male passenger who objected to the holy man having spoken to his wife. The holy man is alleged to have then suggested that a bomb on board would explode.


14 APRIL: GOOSE BAY, CANADA A Delta flight, en route from Moscow Sheremetyevo to New York, diverted to Goose Bay because an intoxicated female Russian passenger,


Irina Shevchenko, became disruptive when crew attempted to prevent her from consuming her duty free alcohol in an aircraft toilet.

15 APRIL: SYDNEY Kelly Rowland, of pop group Destiny’s Child, allegedly lost her temper with Qantas cabin crew when they landed in Sydney, accusing them of being rude and treating her entourage like children.


23 APRIL: ALBUQUERQUE A Delta Airlines flight en route from Los Angeles to Tampa diverted when a passenger damaged the aircraft’s restrooms and then became unruly in the aisle. He is said to have yelled out threats to the flight and tried to open the aircraft door.


27 APRIL: GLASGOW Sky Sports presenter Jim White was prevented from boarding a British Airways flight to Heathrow because he was deemed to be intoxicated.


27 APRIL: BANGOR A Delta flight, en route from Paris to Atlanta, diverted due to an unruly passenger incident allegedly perpetrated by Derek Stansberry, 26. Stansberry, a former air commando and war veteran, claimed he was holding a forged passport and that he had dynamite in his boots and in his laptop computer.


18 APRIL: NEW YORK Kimberly Goodwine, 38, became unruly on a Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta to La Guardia. She was intoxicated on boarding and even had to be forcibly reseated having taken the wrong seat initially. Inflight she made racist comments, resulting in an FBI agent intervening. She tried to film him; he arrested her, but she succeeded in biting both his hands, drawing blood in the process.


20 APRIL: MALABO, EQUATORIAL GUINEA A passenger became aggressive towards the crew of a Royal Air Maroc flight, en route from Libreville to Casablanca via Malabo, when the cabin crew informed passengers with onward connections to Europe that European airspace was only partially open due to the Icelandic volcanic ash clouds. When the flight landed in Malabo, security forces met the flight but did not allow the passenger to disembark, resulting in the crew having to restrain him and manage him until they reached Casablanca.


20 APRIL: HONG KONG Halpita Acharige Wijith Thalis, 47, molested three Cathay Pacific flight attendants on a flight from Singapore. He was later jailed for 14 days and fined HK$15,000 after he admitted touching their buttocks and breasts.


28 APRIL: KOLKATA Lalprit Singh, 35, and Rajvinder Singh, 40, were arrested for molesting a female passenger and an air hostess on a Delhi-Kolkata Jet Konnect flight. They initially showed the passenger pornographic clippings on a mobile phone and, when she called an air hostess, the men made the crewmember sit on their lap and tried to make her see the clippings as well.


29 APRIL: CHARLOTTE Raun Michael Brissenden, 28, was arrested on arrival from Frankfurt for having allegedly kicked a flight attendant and grabbed a female passenger's breast on a US Airways flight. Passengers, including two off-duty police officers, restrained Brissenden until it landed in Charlotte.


29 APRIL: PITTSBURGH Jets wideout Santonio Holmes, 26, had to be escorted off a flight from Newark as a result of his refusing a flight attendant’s requests for him to turn off his iPod for landing.
