Kirintec Launches New Jammer System
Kirintec have added a new jammer system to their REBUS counter-IED inhibition system. The latest addition is a self-erecting enclosure which allows a jammer to get closer to a suspect device, so that small amounts of power can be focussed on blocking out the signal which will detonate it. The REBUS counter-IED inhibition system is designed primarily for use by First Responders who find a suspect device and want to neutralise the threat while they wait for the Bomb Squad or Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) team to arrive. Designed with non-ECM-specialist security staff in mind, the low power jammer is very simple to operate and requires no training.
Bomb disposal technicians can then X-ray through the flimsy tent wall, and if need be fire a disruptor through it. Meanwhile, all normal communications in the
near vicinity remain unaffected by the jammer (e.g. walkie-talkies, UHF, VHF or TETRA radios, air traffic control systems, company wireless networks, and public cell phone networks). Kirintec’s C-IED jammer system is already in use by police forces in six countries, with a further 15 countries currently conducting trials. Primary interest is from
police units whose job it is to protect the general public in normally crowded places which are difficult or costly to evacuate such as mass transit centres, major tourist attractions or event venues.
Siemens Plays Major Role at Barcelona’s El Prat
Siemens has supplied the security for the largest infrastructure project created in the Catalan region of Spain in the last 20 years. The new Terminal 1 at Barcelona International Airport the second largest airport in Spain, was inaugurated on 17 June 2009, consolidating Barcelona’s place amongst the most important air hubs in Europe. Through its group company TECOSA, Siemens installed
the support elements for all the public information systems throughout the airport. Additionally TECOSA supplied to the Airport Management Centre all the operator positions and also carried out the integration of the video walls from Barco, facilitating the control of the maintenance and operation services for the airport itself and the information systems for passengers. Furthermore TECOSA also has ongoing responsibility for the maintenance of the access control and video surveillance systems.
At the security points controlling entry to the passenger departure lounge, Siemens installed walk-through scanners with pulse induction, multi-zone, metal detection that locates weapons and devices in footwear (as well as those concealed on other parts of the body) - therefore eliminating the irritation of passengers having to remove their shoes. At the automatic luggage system Siemens installed scanning equipment for secondary luggage inspection.
Infinova’s Surveillance Solution Handles Multiple Kuwaiti Security Authorities’ Demands
Infinova has announced that its Ethernet networking video matrix switchers with a Video-over- IP (VOIP) option allows the surveillance system at Kuwait International Airport to meet the demands of three individual security authorities. The system includes a combination of 130 Infinova PTZ dome cameras, mini domes and fixed cameras. The Asset Protection Department has the most encompassing responsibilities and requirements and, therefore, has priority over all cameras and networked matrix switchers. The Ministry of Interior has secondary priority over certain cameras in the system. The Civil Aviation authority has secondary priority over other cameras. Three matrix switchers control groups of cameras in the main terminal, while a fourth matrix switcher, managed exclusively by the Asset Protection Department, controls cameras in the VIP Centre. Because Infinova’s matrix switchers are Ethernet, networked right out of the box, building
these separately controlled groups of cameras into one cohesive system was relatively easy and cost-effective. Through the main matrix switcher, the Asset Protection Department can select, view and PTZ control not only the cameras directly controlled by that switcher, but the cameras controlled by the other three switchers as well.
IndigoVision IP-CCTV Chosen for Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport
IndigoVision’s IP Video technology is at the heart of a fully integrated security solution for the new passenger terminal at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. The surveillance system, which was designed and installed by IndigoVision’s local partner Shanghai Baosight Software Co., Ltd, consists of 1880 fixed and PTZ cameras and is integrated with access control, fire detection and other airport systems. Over 50 video management workstations running IndigoVision’s ‘Control Center’ software
are installed at different locations around the terminal, allowing operators to monitor the terminal operation, aircraft parking apron and perimeter fencing. As well as the main security control room, live and recorded video is available to users in different departments of the airport as well as a number of law enforcement agencies. Advanced user management facilities in ‘Control Center’ ensure only users with the correct permissions can access their own department’s video. The surveillance system is fully integrated with the access control and fire systems, as well as with the luggage handling system. Alarms or events from any of these systems can be configured to automatically pan a camera to a pre-selected position, giving the operators an instant view of the incident.
