‘third Scotland’, not bad or good, not black or white but simply the real one, which is somewhere in between. He misses Poland. He misses


snow, places he recalls as a child, his home town... but does not yet know whether he would return. Scotland, he says, is not


is emotion. there is not much Maciej in Maciej’s blog. But that feeling that something is missing, that feeling that you are travelling through an empty room as you read, is partly what makes his blog so readable. He shows reality without the


intrusion of emotion or personal opinion. He writes what he sees and hears. He’s a


bit like that in real life, too, he confesses, preferring to keep his distance. it is hard to say how it works for him in the real life but it gives him excellent results in writing. So what does Maciej think of


life as a Pole in Scotland? He reveals in his blog: “now you do not emigrate. now you migrate for economic reasons. You are mobile. You are


perfect. it is too chilled out there is a lack of intellectual stimulus and challenges. on the other hand, it allowed him to relax after a stressful time in Poland. His unchallenging jobs motivated him to use his brain outside work. Maciej hopes that in the


future he will be able to make living by writing. Maybe then he will not view his work as ‘unimportant’.
