WHAT’S NEW METAL-OXIDE RESISTORS AVAILABLE

Stackpole Electronics Inc. offers its RSF Series and RSMF Series, low-costmetal oxide thru hole resistors for applications with power requirements beyond that of standard metal filmresistors. Due to its cost effective power filmresistive element and laser spiral calibration, the RSF Series and RSMF Series are good alternatives to costly carbon composition resistors that have become more difficult to obtain.

In addition, these resistors are ideal

replacements forwirewounds up to 5watts when inductance or cost becomes an issue. This series also offers high operating

Flexible connector series debuts

temperatures of up to 200°C for the RSF½and RSMF 1 and up to 235°C for the other sizes. The RSF Series and RSMF Series are inherently fusible, as all filmresistors are, and comeswith a standard flame retardant coating.

The RSF Series and RSMF Series are

available in standard andmini ½ watt to 5- watt sizes in resistance values generally ranging from0.1 ohms up to 510K. TCR for the series is 200 ppmand 1% and 5% tolerances are standard.

These two series are available in standard tape and reel packaging and areRoHS

compliant. Pricing varieswith size and tolerance and ranges from$0.03 to $0.39 each in full reel quantities. Contact Stackpole or one of its franchised distributors for volume pricing.

www.seielect.com CHARGING BATTERIES FASTER

SummitMicroelectronics has expanded its third-generation programmable battery charger integrated circuit (IC) family for single- cell Li-Ion, Li-Polymer, and Li-FePO4 powered systems. The SMB328A and SMB328B integrate the largest feature set in the industry, including compatibilitywith all relevant industry standards: USB 2.0 Specification, USB On-The-Go Supplement, JEITA Safety Guidelines, IEEE1725 Standard, Chinese USB Charging Specification, and others. Both products incorporate innovative

FCI, a leading supplier of connectors and interconnect systems, has introduced the Flexible ConnectionsSMseries. This new FCI product family provides expert integration of flexible circuitry and PCB connectors to preserve systemperformance with mechanical and signal integrity. The Flexible Connections family includes

flex assemblies, fine-pitch jumpers, high- density BGA-based flex assemblies, and rigid flexes using press-fit backplane connectors.

FCI's Flexible Connections incorporate

many of the benefits of flex circuit-based interconnections, including signal routing contained in flat "2D" spaces to improve ventilation, and naturalmechanical forgiveness of flex circuitry that reduces stress on surface-mount solder joints. Furthermore, flex assemblies reduce manufacturing complexity and costs and the low-density flexmaterials reduce overall systemweight. Rolled annealed copper construction supports repeatedmovement and vibration in dynamic applications.

functionality that allows automaticmatching between the AC/DC adaptor’s current

capability and the portable device’s charging requirements. High-efficiency operation allows for higher, continuous charging current levels, thereby ensuring battery charging even during high systemload conditions. Like all Summit’s solutions, digital, non-volatile programmability provides design and system flexibility at no additional cost.

Available now in production quantities,

the SMB328A is priced at $1.28 and the SMB328B is priced at $1.23 each in quantities of 10,000 units.

www.summitmicro.com Rising clamp PCB terminal blocks

OKWElectronics has launched the extensive CTB93xx plug-in rising clamp PCB terminal blocks fromCamden Electronics. These UL, cUL, CE, VDE and IMQ approved terminals blocks are available in pitches of 3.5mm, 3.81mm, 5mm, 5.08mm, 7.5mmand 7.62mm, and are ordered as separatemale and female connectors. The two connectors can bemounted vertically, or at 90˚, to suit different applications. The CTB93xx terminal blocks aremolded in green

UL94 V-0 flame retardant PA66, and are supplied in lengths of 1 pole up to amaximumof 24 poles, depending upon the pitch size. The connectors consist of individual blocks or a series of interlocking blockswhich make up the number of poles. The female connectors are availablewith vertical or 90˚ cable entry. Themale connectors are availablewith vertical or 90˚ PCB pins, and can also be specifiedwith open or closed ends.

CTB93xx terminals feature high quality rising clamp wire connections, with captured fixing

screws and guided pin alignment. The technical specifications include cable entry from17 AWG to 14 AWG, ratings from9A/130V to 12A/750V, dielectric strength from1.25kV/60s to 3kV/60s, insulation resistance of 5MΩ, and a working temperature range of -20˚C to +125˚C.
