Digi-Key provides purchasers and engineers with the ability to build and revise a bill of materials for a new device, construct a prototype, conduct field tests, and progress through supply chain management to full production.With Digi-Key’s design- to-production ecosystem, both large and small companies can create small quantity prototype orders without being subjected to minimum order quantities that require ordering a large number of parts.


Volume business division


Digi-Key’s Volume Business Division (VBD) provides additional, personal service for companies engaging in production business and related supply chain support services. Drawing from a team of representatives, VBD assigns account representatives to be Digi-Key liaisons with these customers. Each VBD account representative establishes a personal relationship with his or her customers and becomes each customer’s point of contact with Digi-Key. Account representatives are assigned based on a customer’s production and engineering needs.


In addition to providing ordering assistance by phone, fax,


e-mail, or the Internet, VBD account representatives direct customers to Digi-Key resources including technical support and design support services to provide aid in the design-to- production process. Customers may also deal directly with their VBD account representatives to establish the terms of their accounts in regard to shipping, scheduled ordering, payment options and plans, and purchasing objectives.


Bill of materials manager


Digi-Key’s BOM(bill-of-materials) manager provides real-time pricing and availability, secure storage, and easy search and reference features. The BOMsystem allows purchasers to create separate BOMs for specific projects and place orders for varying quantities of assemblies to be produced. Purchasers can create and save a BOMwith correct part ratios and multiply by the number of assemblies during the ordering process. Digi-Key’s


BOMenables purchasers to create a ‘single kit’ to package kits together or a ‘multi kit’ to package each kit separately. Purchasers can also create parts lists by quickly adding or importing a list of parts and then creating a quote or an order.
