WHAT’S NEW

PRECISION ENCODER RELEASED

CUI Inc. has added a new absolute encoder to its high resolution, low-cost AMTmodular encoder line. The AMT203 outputs 12 bits of absolute position information in a very small (1.35”x1.13”x 0.45”)modular package. Unique among its peers, the AMT203 generates absolute position information using CUI’s patented, capacitive code generation system coupled with a proprietary ASIC, creating a reliable, economical and durable control and positioning solution.

The AMT203 consumes amaximum10mA at

5 Vdcmaking it ideal for applications where power consumption is a concern. Available options include ninemounting patterns and ten bore sizes, creating a flexible platformthat is able tomate withmany industry standardmotors.

The AMT203 and AMT203 demo kit will be

available through Digi-Key in Q2 of 2010 with prices starting at $63 per unit.

Phihong has developed a mega-power, 95W-per-port midspan that is Simple NetworkManagement Protocol (SNMP) -capable. Designated the POE240U- 2MPN, the 2-portmidspan provides full power of 95W per port and is Gigabit- compatible, making it ideal for applications such as wireless access points, computer stations, kiosks, LCD displays, magnetic locks and emergency lighting.

As with all Phihong'smidspans, the POE240U-2MPN requires no powermanagement

and provides full power to both ports simultaneously, so there is no need to calculate and manage device priorities.

The SNMP protocol enables network administrators tomanage andmonitor networks,

and remotely diagnose and solve any network problems. SNMP-capablemidspans give IT managers the ability to remotely turn phones, access points, and other devices on and off, allowing customers to save energy and reduce expenses. Phihong's SNMP-capable devices are also enabled with the capability to send traps when a device overloads or shuts down, allowingmanufacturers to receive alarms, even when in remote locations.

Typical pricing for Phihong's POE240U-2MPN starts at $559.98 each. www.phihong.com

Antenna increases range

Antenna Factor has announced the OM Series of gain antennas. These antennas are designed to increase the range and reliability of wireless links whilemaintaining an omnidirectional pattern around the circumference of the antenna. This characteristic allows for greater flexibility in the placement of systemdevices than is often found in typical gain antenna solutions.

OMSeries antennas also feature rugged, weatherized construction, making themwell suited for both indoor and outdoor applications. The antenna includes complete mounting hardware for standardmasts. The standard antenna features 7dBi gain. Higher gain versions are available upon request.

Thismeans that overcurrent, undervoltage and overvoltage, thermal overload and short circuit are integrated to ensure that

the controller can be used securely. The all-in-one amplifier with an

extremely high power density of 250 watt continuous output power at 12 cm2 (3 x 4 cm)may be seamlessly integrated into complex applications withminimumeffort.

Maxon offers a comprehensive

motherboard design guide for integration into OEMboards and a detailed evaluation board is made available for the initial start-up.
