LED FLASH FOR CELL PHONES

illuminate a wider area compared to previous chip technologies. In addition, the common dead spot in the center of the illumination area is completely absent.

The brightness of the OSLUX LED flash is the

result of new UX:3 chip technology whichmakes the LED capable of handling high currents while generating evenmore light fromthe chip. This new OSLUX LED is considerablymore efficient at high currents than previous LEDs and offers impressive luminous efficacy in a small area.

The new OSLUX LED from OSRAMOpto Semiconductors is brighter and smaller than ever before, and it provides extremely uniform light thanks to a chip employing state-of-the-art UX:3 technology. This advancement, coupled with an optimized lens, produces a 50% increase in brightness over the first-generation OSLUX LED.

The new OSLUX LED for flash applications has

an area of only 3.9mm² and a height of only 2.5 mm(previously 3mm) and is 50 lux brighter, increasing its output to 150 lux. The light ismore evenly distributed over the surface and can

The OSLUX LED is available with two different

lenses that determine the percentage of center brightness (20% or 40%) distributed to the corners of the flash area. At a distance of one meter, the LED flash uniformly illuminates the subject in a rectangular area (90 cmor approx. three feet diagonal), which is sufficient to produce razor-sharp pictures even in low light conditions. The selected lens is integrated in the LED andmatched to the beamcharacteristics of the top-emitting UX:3 chips.

Lumex announces the global launch of its InfoVue FSC (Field Sequential Color) family of color alphanumeric LCD displays, a cost- effective alternative formonochromatic devices looking to transition to color. InfoVue FSC LCDs help drive brand differentiation as color display technology can now be affordably integrated into a wide range of applications – with up to 80% cost savings compared to full- color, graphic TFT LCDs. The new LCD technology also provides fast response time and low power consumption.

Compatible with standard LCD drivers,

InfoVue FSC technology is ideal for a wide range of display applications that require cost- effective color alphanumeric displays. Applications include:

• Personal electronics (including clocks and phones as well as stereo, entertainment and video game systems);

• Appliances (including displays on microwaves, refrigerators and vacuums);

• Medical device technology (including display features onmedical radiology equipment, monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps, blood gases analyzers and ventilators);

• Industrial control technology (including residential and commercial smartmeter energy controls, residential and commercial environmental controls andmotor drive controls);

InfoVue FSC LCDs can be integrated into a wide range of applications

InfoVue FSC LCDs are TN positive, transmissive

and statically-driven. They provide consistent performance in temperatures ranging from- 20°C to 60°C.

The RoHs compliant InfoVue FSC LCDs are

available in customsizes ranging fromone inch squared to five inch squared. The alphanumeric segments are available in seven standard colors with a white background or in black with the seven standard colors as background options.

Pricing is approximately $5 to $30 per unit in production quantities dependent on size and quantity ordered. Complete customorder lead times range fromsix to eight weeks.
