Catalog distribution is an important first step in the electronics supply and design chains: designers rely on sample and prototype orders to “test-drive” new products and buyers know catalogs will always have stock and nearly instant shipping. Here’s what some of the U.S. catalog distributors have been up to in recentmonths.


Newark:


Newark has announced that it has received two 2009 Boeing Performance Excellence Awards. This is the third consecutive year that Newark’s branches in Overland Park, KS and Anaheim, CA were presented with the Boeing award.


The Boeing Company issues


the award annually to recognize suppliers who have achieved superior performance. Newarkmaintained a Silver performance composite performance rating at Anaheimand a Gold performance level at Overland Park for eachmonth fromOctober 1, 2008 to September 30, 2009.


Newark stocks electronic components and equipment from


more than 500 top suppliers, and Boeing buys fromthemajority of its lines.


“We are honored to receive this award for the last 3 years,”


commented Paul Buckley, senior VP, sales and suppliermanagement, Newark. “Only 128 Boeing suppliers earned the Gold level recognition this year, and we feel privileged to be among them.”

TTI Inc. has been recognized for its quality and performance by Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS). The Supplier Excellence Awardwas presented to TTI at a ceremony held at Gillette Stadiumin Foxborough,MA.Of the 6,000 suppliers supporting Raytheon IDS only 88 suppliers received the Supplier Excellence Award.


TTI was recognized as the only electronics distributor to receive the award. 16 | June 2010 Raytheon recognizes its suppliers based on the following three


important factors: on-time deliverymeasures, sustained performance on quality and commitment to continuous process and quality improvement.


“We are extremely pleased to receive this recognition from


Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems,” stated Don Freeman, TTI vice president of strategic sales. Freeman added, “We’re equally proud of ourmany years of servicing thematerial requirements of one of ourmost valued customer partners, Raytheon.”


Tyco Electronics (TE) also honored TTI with its 2009 Global Distributor of the Year Award.


TTI was selected fromTE’s authorized electronic distributors


based on sales growth performance, demand identification and creation, customer base expansion, accounts receivable improvements and cost reduction and efficiency. TTI previously has been recognized by TE as Distributor of the Year for the America’s for 2005 and 2008.
