After painting the darker portion of the seam I use a low tack tape just below the seam line. I did some evenly spaced dots on the tape to guide me as to where I would lay down the white highlights of the seam. If I’m going for the most realistic look as possible I want to make sure that these small details are done just right.
I then added the finishing touches on all of the highlights using white Createx reduced with water. The small white dots on the center seam were done with a combination of airbrush with white colouring pencils. I used hand held shields to obtain the very small creases in the leather.
For the Malboro patch I print off the exact same size. Us- ing tracing paper I outline of each letter making sure to get all the small details. I transferr that to the painting surface by applying some graphite behind and tracing. Lettering in a perspective view is not easy because the further the let- ters are from you, the closer they get and sometimes in a picture you can see them touching each other when in fact they are not. You have to pay atten- tion to these details.
