YOUTH SWIM LESSONS


4–WEEK SESSION, 4 LESSONS. ALL LESSONS ARE 30 MINUTES. SATURDAY SWIM LESSONS START AT THE BEGINNING OF EVERY MONTH. MONTHS WITH FIVE SATURDAYS ONLY RUN THE FIRST FOUR SATURDAYS.

MAKE-UP POLICY


We cannot offer make-ups, credits or refund for any missed classes during the session. NO EXCEPTIONS! Classes that are cancelled for any reason by the YMCA will be rescheduled by the Aquatics Director.


NOTE: classes may be added, dropped or combined based upon enrollment. Minimum 3 students per class.


n RAY The higher level of Preschool age swim lessons. Students entering this level should be completely comfortable in the water and able to swim independently for short distances. Instructors focus on water safety, developing swim strokes and deep water swimming.


n STARFISH The most advanced level of Preschool age swim lessons. This class is for children who have been introduced to and can swim each stroke with basic proper technique. Instructors focus on advanced stroke development, endurance and swim team preparation.


PRESCHOOL AGE GROUPS 3-5 YEARS OLD


n PIKE Our beginning level of swim lessons which serves as an introduction to the water as well as to a group setting. this level is for children who may not be fully comfortable in the water. Instructors focus on water safety, confidence, and rudimentary swimming movements.


n EEL The lower intermediate level for our Preschool Age. The Eel level is for children who feel comfortable in the water as well as putting their face under water. Instructors focus on water safety, confidence and begin to introduce independent swimming.


SCHOOL AGE GROUPS 6+ YEARS OLD


n POLLIWOG The beginning level of lessons for our older swimmers. The Polliwog class is for children who are not comfortable in the water and who may not have taken lessons in the past. Instructors focus on water safety, confidence and introductory independent swimming.


n GUPPY A lower intermediate level of lessons for swimmers who feel comfortable in the water but may not have been introduced to swim strokes. Children should be able to swim short distances independently. Instructors focus on water safety, swimming with face in the water, and rudimentary stroke technique.


n MINNOW The higher intermediate level for the older age group. This class is for children who feel comfortable in the water and have basic understanding of different swim strokes. Instructors focus on basic rescue techniques, proper breathing patterns, comprehensive stroke development and endurance.


n FISH The most advanced of our group swim lessons. This class is for children who have been introduced to and can swim each stroke with basic proper technique. Instructors focus on rescue techniques, advanced stroke development, endurance and swim team preparation.

Parent/Child Swim Lessons 6 months – 3 years


In this class, parents will learn methods of working with their child to encourage water adjustment, self-confidence, basic swimming skills, and safety in and around water. Children must wear tight-fitting plastic pants in the pool.
