WHAT DO THEY DO?

HaiVision will launch its latest Makito Decoder at this year’s NAB. Makito is an H.264 decoder that offers support for video up to 1080p60. When paired with the Makito high definition H.264 encoder, this system provides low- latency decoding and efficient delivery of HD video via HD-SDI or HDMI output, according to the company. Also debuting at the show is the newly updated Furnace 5.5. This is a solution for end-to-end HD H.264 video-over- IP distribution. The integrated solution supports the Makito HD H.264 encoder to manage and distribute live video to computers and set-top boxes, to create scheduled playback channels for enterprise TV and signage, and to record content and deliver video- on-demand. The new Stingray set-top box offers support for all core features of HaiVision's InStream player to enable intu- itive and convenient video play- out on large-screen displays, according to HaiVision. The set- top box now provides HDMI, in addition to its component ana- logue and composite outputs. It is also equipped with dual Ethernet network interfaces. The Makito HD H.264 encoder with compo- nent analogue and DVI inputs now supports both component analogue and DVI inputs. It deliv- ers full-frame-rate H.264 encod- ing of HD video up to 1080p60, or computer graphics resolutions up to 1280x1024 75Hz (SXGA).

Interactivity desk

WHAT DOES IT DO?

Never.no will highlight Interactivity Desk (ID), the soft- ware tool for on-air and off-air editorial control of interactive and multisourced content. ID reads various forms of internal and viewer contribution data, includ- ing text, images, audio, and video, and enables the editor to sched- ule, moderate, edit and sort the data before submission to broad- cast systems, blogs, internet pages, or set-top box and IPTV middleware. ID can feed data to various systems in parallel. It con- tains a built-in scheduler, which automatically schedules the run- ning of content or interactive ele- ments such as quizzes, polls, votes and games without the need for studio intervention. Never.no says it offers integration with Vizrt, Harris RTX, Adobe Flash, Microsoft Silverlight and blog platforms.

WHAT’S SHOWING?

Sentinel

WHAT DOES IT DO?

Sentinel is a remote monitoring service for customers of the iTX automation and transmission platform. It provides transmission and automation support for broadcasters by using statistical analysis of real-time data in the log files to deliver a daily health report on the customer site. In the event of a potential support issue, the software alerts OmniBus support staff in the local time zone, who can then make phone contact with the customer. Sentinel uses a small, passive application at the customer site to automatically gather data from the iTX log files and upload a series of system reports to OmniBus every 24 hours. The Sentinel software analyses trends and identifies certain types of warnings and errors that the cus- tomer may be unaware of.

WHAT DO THEY DO?

Pilat Media will highlight a stand- alone, centralised rights manage- ment system, based on IBMS fea- tures and technology. This new product covers a set of services for asset lifecycle management from production through to distri- bution, applying centralised rights management, contract manage- ment, deal management and asset finance. The company will also introduce a set of automa- tion system interfaces based upon BXF standards, initially for OmniBus automation systems. The web service interface handles the synchronisation of schedules, playout and plant routing between IBMS and automation systems to enable just-in-time changes up to airtime in file- based operations. IBMS acts as the central hub for orchestrating all programming and advertising changes, collecting as-runs, man- aging media and re-routing live feeds.
