COMPASS; RiGHTv

WHAT DO THEY DO?

Viaccess-owned middleware com- pany Orca Interactive will be showcasing the newest product directions for its COMPASS con- tent discovery solution and RiGHTv middleware. It will also be revealing some new deals, includ- ing the first COMPASS deploy- ments, at the show. Among the innovations on display will be a full over-the-top service based on RiGHTv and operated by US- based CTV. The OTT capability enables service providers to deliv- er a TV service over the open internet, extending the reach of operators to areas that are not covered with sufficient bandwidth to make them eligible for full IPTV. Broadcasters can also bene- fit from the IP connectivity by launching VOD, catch-up TV and interactive services. With a live OTT service demonstration, Orca will discuss the CTV project, which provides a TV service for ex-pats living in the US. Orca will also be demonstrating new use- cases for COMPASS, which com-

bines user profiles, popular choice, social recommendations, usage history and additional advanced algorithms to build a personalised set of viewing rec- ommendations for live TV and on- demand content. Orca will be showing COMPASS integrated into a 3-screen service that lever- ages convergent capabilities to show the universal relevance of effective content discovery. The new mobile interface for COM- PASS allows operators to provide a new user experience that pro- vides personalised recommenda- tions, for a variety of content types, on mobile handsets.

Netgem to launch new smartphone remote control apps STAND 36

Netgem will use the IPTV World Forum to launch next- generation smartphone remote control applications and over- the-top content applications. It will also reveal new customers at the show.

The NetgemTV IPTV tech- nology that has been shortlist- ed for Best IPTV Service Delivery Platform at the IPTV World Series Awards 2010. Netgem managing director Christophe Aulnette said: “Operators are increasingly
