A
terface components for communications, indus- trial and consumer ap- plications, announced one of the industry’s smallest, most energy efficient 3-Watt (3W) high power LEDs with high color rendering index (CRI) for use in a wide range of solid-state lighting applications. With dimensions of 5 mm by 4 mm by 1.85 mm thick, Avago’s compact 3W ASMT-Jx33 is packaged in a 6-leaded small outline package (SOP) and capable of being driven to up to 700 mA to provide high flux output performance. Additionally, this competitively priced compact LED emitter provides a wide viewing angle and features long life reliability.
The ASMT-Jx33 has a wide viewing angle of 140-de- grees to meet the needs of designers who require good color uniformity. This LED provides a high typi- cal CRI of 80 for cool white and 90 for warm white. Avago’s ASMT-Jx33 LEDs are priced at $2.50 each in 1,000 piece quantities.
Furthermore, the Company announced three Mi-
niature Precision Isolation Amplifiers with increa-
sed accuracy, bandwidth and high insulation made possible by proprietary optical isolation technology. Based on sigma-delta analog-to-digital converters and chopper stabilized amplifiers, the new isolation am- plifiers feature high gain accuracy, low temperature drift, 3.3 V/5 V output supply operation and a wide -40 to +105° C operating temperature range.

ASF (Pink Sheets/OTCQX: BASFY (ADR); Bloomberg: BAS GY) is extending its range of
process chemicals for the manufacture of solar cells with a new, environmentally-friendly cleaning soluti- on with SELURIS®
Clean. SELURIS® Clean, available
immediately, offers advantages for the production of solar cells. It enables efficient hydrophilicity, i.e. the targeted modification of surface activity, as well as subsequent cleaning and passivation of the solar cell wafers. Additionally, SELURIS®
13
Clean can also be
used at lower temperatures, which automatically cuts costs. It is used twice in the manufacturing process for solar cells – both before and after the phosphoric acid doping procedure. Before doping, the cut and texturized silicon wafers must be rendered hydrophi- lic. This allows excellent surface wetting and therefo- re more homogenous distribution of the phosphoric acid on the wafer. This, in turn, later results in an optimum solar cell performance.
Furthermore, effective April 1, 2010, or as contracts allow, BASF will increase prices in Europe, Africa and Western Asia for styrene-acrylic and straight-acrylic dispersions by EUR180 per metric ton, for styrene- butadiene dispersions by EUR180 per metric ton and for resins and redispersible polymer powders by EUR250 per metric ton. The price adjustments are necessary due to significantly increased raw material costs.
