P
owertraveller made its auspicious debut at
market since 1970
Friedrichshafen this summer, winning a prestigious
Outdoor award in the Best Aceesory category for its
Solar Gorilla. They’re following up that debut with a first
appearance at ispo, as Brand Manager Jane Harsham
explained to SGB Outdoor: “We made a fantastic debut at
Friedrichshafen. It was our first time at an outdoor show, and
the response was incredible from buyers and retailers. The
message that came across was about our whole range, we’re
not just about one or two products.
“Our Solar Gorilla
product won the Outdoor
award for Best Accessory
this year, and we’re taking
that to ispo in February. It’s
our first time at ispo, and
we can see there is massive
potential for portable
power in the outdoor
sector, so we’re making a
sizeable investment to go

few eyebrows, Jane continued: “We’re launching the Silverback pics: arc’teryx, michael rudolf sterfl
Gorilla at ispo, which will be the world’s first truly portable UPS
[uninterrupted power supply] system. It’s going to be launched with
its mate, the Solar
Gorilla Extreme, which
is a solar panel 1
metre high by 60cm
wide, capable of
producing 70 watts of
power. Right now in
this field, there isn’t a
truly portable solution;
this is smaller than the
yellow pages, is about
as thick, and can run a
desktop computer for
about half an hour, or
a laptop for about 14
hours. It’s an incredible piece of technology.” The Silverback Gorilla
will be charged from the mains; users plug their desktop or laptop
computer into the Silverback, which then plugs into the mains
supply. In a power cut, an alarm sounds but the user can continue
working ‘off grid’.
