and Rocky to breakfast there weekly. And those three large dogs just love the food, especially the homemade soup, Dianne Buran said, as she offered Daisy a few last spoonsful. Curbside Cafe is one of the city's home-


grown ‘hot spots’ for breakfast. Others in- clude the Village Cafe, Vista Way Café, Sunrise Café and Coyote Café. All serve breakfast and lunch. The Vil- lage Café, Vista Way Café and Coyote Café also offer dinners as well. In every instance, the break-


fasts are especially hearty. Most serve eggs, scrambles, pan- cakes, waffles and french toast. Huevos rancheros – eggs on crisp tortillas with salsa and usually beans and/or rice – are popular everywhere. Diners have been known to


come from San Marcos for the huevos rancheros at Sunrise Café or from Oceanside for those at Village Café. In both instances, the owners, Bobby


Jones and Fred Nazarian, re- spectively, say they make their own sauces. A waitress at Curbside gave


the huevos rancheros there her No. 2 recommendation. The rancheros are made with saucy black beans. Crab cake bene- dict came in at No. 1. “You won't be sorry,” she said of the huevos selection. And she was right. John Randall, Curbside owner/ chef, said he bought
