Fitzgibbon Cup 2009
Trinity College had the honour of hosting the Fitzgibbon Cup, the highlight of the third-level hurling year after a lapse of almost 20 years. The Cup was launched in February in the Pavilion bar, with Nicky Brennan, President of the GAA in attendance.
The tournament itself took place on the fi rst weekend in March, with a dinner held on Commons.
This was followed by a hurling forum with Micheal O' Muircheartaigh as MC for the night. Nicky English, All Star Hurler Tony Griffi n, and Paudie Butler (National Hurling Co-ordinator) formed the panel who spoke and answered questions on the night. TG4 covered both the semi fi nals and fi nal with University College Cork eventual winners.
