Trinity Rowing Regatta 2009
In April, Trinity and the DU Boat Club hosted the annual regatta; the largest in fi ve years with 115 races on the schedule. The DU Ladies Boat Club were victorious in the senior women’s eight boat race on the day. The Trinity ladies also won the women’s intermediate four race and were victorious in the annual colours race against UCD held earlier that week.
Other Trinity winners included men’s intermediate eight and intermediate four boats. Ali Floyd won in the men’s senior single sculls race. The Trinity men’s novice boats also won their sections in the eight and four boat categories.
Hundreds of spectators enjoyed refreshments and live music during the Regatta where the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Eibhlin Byrne, presented medals to winners at the prize giving.

The Knights of the Campanile and Heraeans Sports Day
The fi rst Knights and Heraeans’ sports day took place during Trinity Week under the theme 'Try A Sport', allowing students to sample a new sport, such as fencing and ‘ultimate frisbee’, in exchange for a charitable donation in aid of the charity GOAL.
Prizes were presented on the day by Eamonn Coghlan, Olympic gold medalist. The day’s events raised €2,000 for the designated charity GOAL whose founder John O’Shea attended the day’s activities.
Dublin University Association Football Club Celebrates its 125th anniversary
DU Association Football Club celebrated its 125th anniversary in May. A large number of past and current players, coaches, managers, and club offi cials gathered for a formal celebration in the Dining Hall to mark the occasion.
Presentations on the night were made to the winning team of the 1979 Collingwood Cup and to past DUAFC Captains, George Wheeler B.Comm., LL.B., M.A. (1954), and Bobby Prole B.A. (1958), and to the current DUAFC squad which has just competed in both the University League and Cup competitions.

Trinity’s Sports ‘Hall of Fame’ Awards
This year’s Sports Alumni ‘Hall of Fame’ awards were presented to Trinity rugby alumni who played in the Lions Rugby tours throughout the years, Des Fitzgerald B.B.S. (1983), Philip Orr B.A. (1973), John Robbie B.A. (1977), Hugo MacNeill B.A. (1981), Brendan Mullin B.A. (1978), Mike Roberts B.B.S. (1970) and Robin Roe M.C., C.B.E. (MIL.), M.A., C.F. (1952).
The awards were presented by former Trinity rugby player, Irish Grand Slam No 8, and Lions player, Jamie Heaslip, at a reunion lunch held in April. This was followed by the last All Ireland League (AIL) game of the season between Trinity and Lansdowne rugby club played in College Park where Trinity put in their best performance of the season with a stunning win against league table leaders. The fi nal score Trinity 13: Lansdowne 12.
