A Message from the Editor
Welcome to the new 2010 Barter Bulletin!
The magazine is crammed full of fantastic members including bespoke tailor, great gyms, IT support, tool hire for your office and home renovation needs
and so much more.
On a more general note, as the last decade fades into history it is natural that we look at some of the recent changes. The global warming issue went
from a sometime touted afterthought to headline global policy, ushering in emission laws with the very existence of our planet at stake. The global
recession hit hard, heavily affecting the UK and made us think about speculation, over extension and the need for a pragmatic, realistic approach in our
lives and our businesses.
However amongst these sobering occurrences, an especially poignant event happened at the end of 2009: the passing away of Harry Patch and Henry
Allingham, the last two fighting British servicemen of the First World War. The message I take from their passing is to count our blessings and display
courage, hope and fortitude in the difficult circumstances that life throws our way - as those men did - as the world moves into the next decade.
Business owners are required to do this on a daily basis, so as Bartercard member Sean O'Reilly from Panther’s Gym comments:
'Set accessible goals in 2010, and aim to achieve them.'
I hope you enjoy this Bulletin. Please email me if you would like to feature in the next issue.
