Working together in 2010
2010 is a year for us all to work together and ensure a positive financial future for our
businesses. The question is how do we make the best of our relationship and what
should Bartercard do and what should you as a Bartercard member be prepared to do?
The Trade Coordinator’s Role
Regular Contact: We have 2 types of call. The Service call – This is an in-depth
call made at least once a month to assess how we can work together to increase
trade for the member. Looking at current and future expenditure and 3 – 6 month
plans. Discussing creative ways to increase cash flow, win cash customers and
utilise your Bartercard more effectively. Looking at sales plans and understanding
how your business works so we can direct our ideas more efficiently.
The Contact calls – These are quick fire calls to ensure that you have followed up
on details given to you, to source products or services and finally to offer you one
off opportunities.
Member Engagement – We all do business better face to face. A planned, in
depth, prepared account meeting can be highly effective for both parties. Looking at
the past so we can learn, looking to the future so we can plan together how much
cash we can look to save in your business.
Sourcing – It is highly important that your Trade Coordinator exhausts all
possibilities when looking for a product or service. Our live system has a great
search facility allowing us to search the entire Bartercard UK database. Once found
we should qualify the supplier and then put buyer and seller in touch.
Follow up – The Trade Coordinator’s work off an internal live web based system.
We are obliged to leave detailed notes on our system so we can always refer to
these. It helps us with following up deals that have been set in place and ensuring
that they have been completed.
Events – All brokerages have regular events. New Members Breakfasts,
Networking, Top Traders, Trade Nights and Expo’s. It is the role of the brokerage to
host these and to ensure that all members are informed and where possible the
members attend.
Education – Bartercard is our business. We eat, sleep and breathe it. It is our job
to educate our members on how to get the best from their Bartercard account.
Giving hints, tips and inspirational ways of saving cash. Most importantly we should
be sharing with the member how much cash they are saving.
