Children will be familiar with wheels through
playing with toys and bicycles or from
pushing shopping trolleys or pushchairs.
Making their own vehicles will enhance their
understanding about wheels and axles.

This unit gives children the opportunity to
cut and join pieces of fabric to make simple
textile models using a context which is both

3 Unit 3C Moving Monsters
This unit will encourage children to
investigate how air can produce movement
and how this can be used in simple
pneumatic mechanisms.Contents: 30 burger

This unit encourages children to look at
different types of movement produced by
cam mechanisms and to consider how these
could be used to make a moving toy.

4 Unit 5C Moving Toys
5 Unit 6C Fairgrounds
This unit gives children an opportunity to
extend and use their knowledge of electrical
circuitry and switches to produce a
fairground ride. This is driven by a motor,
which has been geared down to a suitable
speed by the use of a simple pulley system.
The possible introduction of computer
control will give an added dimension to the
project. Contents: 100 lengths of 10 mm
