1 Improving Primary Mathematics Kit
Mathematics Kit
All the resources you need for exciting practical
lessons at KS1! We all know young children learn
best through practical activities. This is particularly
true of maths, where concrete materials or
manipulatives are essential for hands-on
experiences. We are delighted to present a new
2010
maths box, which contains a wide range of
resources all presented in a sturdy compact case
designed to stack easily on classroom shelves. Each
box has been designed to be shared between a pair
of pupils to encourage co-operation in a range of
activities. The Resource Collection has been
devised by advisory teachers and consultants
working in the London Borough of Barking &
Dagenham to support their IPM project. It has
been extensively trialed with Year 1 pupils for
whom it was originally planned, and teachers in
Year 2 are also ordering it for use with their pupils.
You may find you want to use it with lower
attaining children in other year groups within KS2.
Ofsted Inspectors described it as “an innovative
resource” when they saw it being used in class.
“Teachers find it invaluable and a time-saver in
getting together all the resources needed.” Advisor,
Barking & Dagenham.
