6. W hat examples can you provide of what your company is
doing in these areas?
Each Duff & Phelps professional is assigned to a career advisor and
mentor who assists them in developing their career. This mentor works
directly with each employee to understand and fulfil their career goals.
We also hold a twice-yearly performance management process,
which ensures that each employee has the opportunity to show and discuss
progress with their superiors.
7. H ow will your company be seen ten years from now with
regard to the area(s) you’ve chosen?
We will continue to choose the right people and develop their talent.
That is an important part of our business platform. By fostering
advancement for our employees, we help to ensure that Duff & Phelps
will not only continue to grow, but also provide experienced, responsive
advice to our clients.
8. H ow are MBA/PhD/Masters graduates contributing to the
development of your company?
Duff & Phelps has grown substantially over the past three years. We
attribute this business development largely to the efforts of our employees
from our analysts to our managing directors.
9. How would a candidate impress you?
We look for self-motivated people who have a strong GPA, excellent
written and verbal communication skills and—most importantly—a
desire to join a growing, innovative company. We seek people who
want to develop the deep skills and responsiveness necessary to
provide our clients with the service they demand from Duff &
Phelps. We also look for candidates who are ready to take on the
professional world, work with upper level management and think
on their feet.
10. How does your company allow MBA/PhD/Masters graduates
to develop their skills?
To demonstrate our commitment to offering new employees more career
mobility and unprecedented access to management, we established D&P
University, a comprehensive training and mentoring program. During a
two week period, our new members get to know the company, network
with peers and learn how to maximize their professional skills.
Throughout the year, our professionals also receive casual and formal
education from our Duff & Phelps industry experts as well as a great deal
of guidance from the senior management on each engagement.
11. How has the economic downturn impacted on your business
and recruitment of MBA/PhD/Masters graduates?
Since Duff & Phelps offers a wide array of financial advisory and
investment banking services, we have a well balanced service portfolio.
Because we stay abreast of secular market trends, this allows our
business—and our employees—to thrive in this market.
Like most companies, our recruiting efforts have slowed over the last
few quarters; however, we have maintained a consistent workforce,
including our MBA staff.
