REGULAR SEASON RECAP
After concluding the regular season tied for second in the ACC with a 25-6 record, Coach K
remarked, “I just think we are a better basketball team than we were a month ago. I’m good with
where my team is at.” The Blue Devils closed the regular season with five wins in six games, in-
cluding victories over a pair of ranked teams (Wake and FSU), road wins over two solid ACC foes
(Maryland, Virginia Tech), and a hard-fought loss at UNC. The emergence of freshman Elliot Wil -
liams has clearly given the team a boost as the Memphis native averaged 11.0 PPG on 56% shoot-
ing from the floor in those six games as a starter. Although the squad fell a game short of our goal
to win the ACC regular-season title, the team entered March Madness feeling fresh and confident.
“We feel like we’re a more mature team,” Gerald Henderson said after the regular season
ended. “In these last two weeks we’ve come up with some big wins. We’ve played in a
lot of big games with a lot of game pressure, and we’ve done well in them.”
