3rd Annual Art in the Woods

ocal artists team up to create
a unique “art happening” in
the Iona District of Fort Myers
for the third annual Art in the
Woods, from 10 a.m. to sunset,
March 7. Artwork, food, music
and a silent auction offer day-
long family fun. The event sup-
ports Footsteps to the Future,
a local nonprofit organization, designed to empower young
women who have “aged out” of the foster care system at age
18 and no longer receive traditional funds or benefits.
Footsteps, which provides mentoring and guidance to
many of these young women, added a new program in 2008:
Transitional Living. The program eases their transition to in-
dependence by assisting them as they set personal goals, find
and maintain safe and affordable housing, and continue their
education in pursuit of careers. Mentoring is key. “When even
one person believes in you, your life can change,” asserts Ex-
ecutive Director Judi Woods. “This is exactly what Footsteps
is all about—changing lives, one at a time.”
The event takes place at a private home and gallery located at
16341 Arbor Ridge Drive, in Fort Myers. A $5 donation is appre-
