INTERVIEW BY GARRETT JOHNSTON

DeChambeau Q A+ B

ryson DeChambeau has fi t a lifetime of golf accomplishments into

the fi ve years since he captured 2011 Junior Tour of Northern California Player of the Year honors. Just in the past year, the Clovis native won the U.S. Amateur and NCAA individual championships, fl irted with the lead through 36 holes of his fi rst Masters, and turned pro, fi nish- ing fourth in his very fi rst start at Hilton Head in South Carolina. In his fi rst professional major at the U.S. Open, DeChambeau was again on the fi rst page of the leaderboard, ultimately tying for 15th.

But despite his incredible accomplishments at the age of 22, DeChambeau has some work to do to earn a PGA Tour card for the 2016-17 season. His status as reigning U.S. Amateur champion can net him nine starts this sum- mer. If he can manage to crack the equivalent of the top 125 on the FedEx Cup standings, he’ll earn his card for the next season. NCGA Golf recently caught up with DeChambeau about his NCGA days, his fi rst Masters and adjusting to Tour life.
