John Harbottle III had a hand in both Genoa courses—the Lakes was designed with Peter Jacobsen, while the Ranch was created with Johnny Miller. The Lakes Course is a stiff test often used as a U.S. Open qualifying site, as it takes on wetlands and the winding Carson River for 14 holes, while the Ranch ranges over more than 300 feet of elevation change to capture dramatic dropshots against the high desert. Ranch Course Head Pro Chris

You can ski Heavenly in the morning, and play 18 holes at Genoa in the afternoon. Coyote Moon

Detsch has coolly restored some of the lost character to the former pheasant and hunt club, including the resurrection of a cemetery after the 16th hole that celebrates aces. Any hole in one will be immortalized with a personalized tombstone—which ironically resides on the same property as the original Tombstone Pizza.
