TaylorMade introduces PGA Tour favorite M1 driver O

ver the last couple of years, TaylorMade has come under fire for what many saw as a hyper-accelerated

product launch cycle. A near- continuous parade of new products accompanied by the obligatory marketing hype had consumers confused and retailers begging for mercy. Credit to TaylorMade and new

president David Abeles. They’ve heard the complaints and have vowed to launch new equipment only when it is noticeably better than what’s already out on the market. The company puts that pledge to the test with the recent introduction of the M1 line. Grabbing most of the headlines

is the M1 driver, which became the most played driver on the PGA and European Tours the week it became available. It features a combination titanium and carbon

composite crown—a first for TaylorMade—which saves the weight necessary for a dual-track adjustable weight system. One track enables golfers to move a 15-gram weight from heel to toe, allowing adjustment of draw or fade bias by up to 25 yards. A 10- gram weight moved from front to back allows you up to 300 rpm of backspin and 0.8 degree of launch angle adjustability. Add to the package a 12-position loft sleeve that provides up to 4 degrees of loft flexibility and you have what TaylorMade calls its “most fittable driver ever,” allowing golfers of all abilities to optimize their launch conditions for longer, straighter drives. A full slate of fairway woods and Rescue clubs completes the M1 family. The M1 driver retails for $499.
