Titleist and Cleveland take different approaches with latest releases T
itleist’s Vokey Design wedges have been the most-played wedge on Tour for more than a decade. And now, you can buy
the wedges played by the No. 1 player on Tour—and in the world—Jordan Spieth. Spieth carries four Vokey Design SM5 wedges (46-degree F, 52-degree F, 56-degree S and 60- degree L). While the SM5s have been avail-
able for some time, you can now purchase them with the raw finish preferred by Spieth (as well as Jimmy Walker and Zach Johnson, among others). They love the look and feel of the raw finish, and the fact that it won’t reflect the sun’s glare. Out of the box, the wedge has a beautiful satin look. It will rust with use—and look better and better. The SM5-Raw Wedges
are available in 10 differ- ent configurations, with personalized stamping of up to six letters and/or numbers with 12 paint- fill colors. Prices start at $180, plus personaliza- tion. You can purchase them at WedgeWorks on
Vokey.com. When you think of classic wedge design, the other com- pany that comes to mind is Cleve- land Golf. But Cleveland’s new Smart Sole 2.0 wedges couldn’t be described as classic. They could accurately be called the best game-improvement wedge duo on the market. The Smart Sole 2.0 S is designed with
an extremely wide sole and gener- ous bounce—getting out of a bunker with regular or soft sand conditions is a no-brainer. You’ll find yourself

quickly developing consistency and distance control, too. If you struggle with your bunker play, you have to give this sand wedge a try. If you’re an accomplished wedge player, the Smart Sole isn’t for you—the wedge design limits its versatility on other greenside shots. The Smart Sole 2.0 C is
essentially a chipping club. It has a loft of 42 degrees and a clever sole design that promotes clean contact from a variety of turf conditions. Like the Smart Sole 2.0 S, it has a “feel plaque” that dampens impact vibration and features a black satin finish. Smart Sole 2.0 wedges start at $110 (steel) and $120 (graphite).
