MASON JAR/ SUSAN B SHELDON/SHUTTERSTOCK / PYREX/JENNIE BARCLAY/SHUTTERSTOCK

Unique Travel Club Makes

Patriotism Cool Again

Conservative women find adventure and new friendships with like-

Vintage Pyrex, especially rare patterns like “Gooseberry” or “Butterprint,” can sell for $30 to $100 or more per piece.

Even something as simple as a

screwdriver set or a cast-iron wrench can catch attention if it’s the right brand and era. Classic Ball Mason jars —

especially the blue glass versions from the early 1900s — have their collector niche, often selling online for more than you’d expect, particularly if they still have their original zinc lids.

SELLING VERSUS SAVING Don’t feel like you must sell everything at once. Some keepsakes are worth holding onto, and not everything needs to have a price tag. If an item holds emotional value, it’s OK to pass it down, even if no one wants it just yet.

minded travelers. :: BY ALICE GIORDANO

A

unique travel club for conservative women is so popular that trips are sold out months in advance. “This is the real Disney World, it’s very

magical,” said Linda May Poche, a retired police oficer and one of the hosts for Beatrice Bradley Travel Adventure. Named after a friend’s adventurous

late grandmother, the club — which has survived endless Facebook suspensions — allows MAGA women to forge forever friendships from opposite sides of the United States. Geared toward ladies age 45 and up,

the group’s offerings run the gamut — from shooting at AR500 steel targets from a moving helicopter in the rugged canyons of San Angelo, Texas, to exploits along Italy’s stunning Puglia coast. Despite all its exotica, the most popular trip since its startup five years ago was a watch party for President Donald Trump’s inauguration held at his luxe Doral golf resort in Miami. Roberta Dobie, one of the 100 women

who attended, said she was “teary eyed the entire time,” mostly because she was thrilled to be able to openly celebrate Trump’s election. “We are sometimes so beaten down

for speaking up and being ourselves,” said Dobie, former chair of the Live Oak County Republican Party in Texas.

The 67-year-old, who has now been

on three trips with Beatrice Bradley, can’t recall the women so much talking politics as just feeling “like minded” together. And surprisingly, according to Kim

Kalan, founder of Beatrice Bradley, marketing to “like-minded women” who are conservatives is practically nonexistent. “What I discovered is women that are

over the age of 50 are not marketed to at all,” said the 57-year-old Minnesotan. “By the time women get around 55

or 60, they need to reinvent themselves — they may be widowed, divorced, their children are grown, or they have lost children, and some have lost friends over politics.” Add in being “a conservative woman,”

says Kalan, and “you’re really left behind.” The diehard conservative discovered the untapped niche after advertising her travel club for women during the height of COVID-19, when she barely got a nibble. That is, until she added “conservative” and emphasized “no masks and vaccines needed.” Beatrice Bradley now boasts more

than 67,000 members, with regulars well into their 80s, and already has 150 trips planned for 2026, including Egypt, Hawaii, and one called “Mexico’s Great Butterfly Migration.” As Kalan likes to put it, the ladies are

“making being patriotic cool again.” The group also offers mother-

daughter getaways and couples excursions. Kalan says “people on the fence” politically are welcome too, if they “pack an open mind and leave any opposing opinions at the door.” There are waiting lists for October’s

“2025 Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta” and “Historic New Orleans and Mysteries of the Bayou,” but there are openings for other odysseys including a fall hiking adventure to Vermont and Maine and a trip to Tennessee’s Dollywood.
