restaurant named after surfing icon Duke Kahanamoku. It’s a great place for a sunset dinner, with fresh fish, grilled steaks, and a nightly lineup of live Hawaiian music. Another good option is Marugame Udon, where thick Japanese noodles are made from scratch behind the counter. The line moves quickly, and the beef and curry udon bowls are worth the wait. For a quieter sit-down experience

with a menu that will feel familiar to most travelers, I recommend House Without a Key at the Halekulani Hotel. The open-air setting and traditional Hawaiian music make for a relaxing evening. The grilled fish and filet mignon are both excellent.

WHAT TO DO

I hiked up Diamond Head Crater, the extinct volcanic cone that frames the eastern edge of the beach. The

trail is short but steep, and the view from the top — stretching across Honolulu and out into the Pacific — is worth every step. Shopping is also a draw here.

Kalakaua Avenue is lined with both luxury boutiques and local stores, and there are plenty of places to pick up handmade crafts, Hawaiian shirts, and macadamia nut treats to take home.

GETTING TO WAIKIKI Waikiki is part of Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, located on the island of Oahu. Flights into Honolulu International Airport (HNL) are available from most major U.S. cities, and the airport is about 25 minutes from Waikiki by car. Once you’re in town, you

won’t need a rental car unless you’re planning day trips. The neighborhood is walkable, easy to navigate, and full of small surprises around every corner.

Not to Be Missed O

ne of the most meaningful stops I made was at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial. Located about 30 minutes from Waikiki, it honors the lives lost in the 1941 attack by Japanese kamikaze pilots and offers a powerful look at the event that drew the United States into World War II. It’s a must-visit. The site includes the USS Arizona Memorial, museums, and exhibits that provide historical context and personal stories from survivors.

Healthy Aging Made Easier

Four medical doctors develop antioxidant-loaded multivitamin formula for healthy aging

H

arvard scientists reviewed decades of vitamin research, and reported that most adults fail to get enough vitamins by diet alone.

This is particularly true for those over

50, who have more trouble absorbing nutrients. Diets of older adults are also commonly defi cient in key vitamins, especially antioxidants.

An Inexpensive Nutrition Insurance Policy

Harvard researchers recommended: “Every adult should take a multivitamin daily as a safe and inexpensive way to optimize health.” The Harvard School of Public Health website counsels: “A daily multi-
