Trump Unveils $50B ‘Next Gen’ Fighter Jet

he revolutionary F-47 fighter jet, unveiled in March by President Donald Trump, is being hailed as a critical leap forward for U.S. air power.

Designed to replace the aging F-22 Raptor, the F-47

will be the most advanced fighter aircraft ever built, incorporating cutting-edge stealth, sensor fusion, and autonomous capabilities. Retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Blaine Holt told News-

max: “Its capabilities are well beyond that of anything flying today.”

Retired U.S. Air Force Col. Todd Harmer, a former

Fighter Wing commander with experience in the F-16 and F-15, underscored how urgently the Air Force needs the next generation fighter. Harmer told Newsmax that the Air Force is currently

“the oldest, the smallest, and the least ready it’s been since 1947.” Gen. David Allvin, the Air Force chief of staff, under-

scored the adaptability of the F-47, saying, “It will have significantly longer range, more advanced stealth, be more sustainable, supportable, and have higher avail- ability than our fifth-generation fighters.” China has been aggressively expanding its capabili-

ties. On Dec. 26, it conducted high-profile test flights of two advanced stealth fighter/strike aircraft — the Chengdu J-36 and the Shenyang J-XX/J-50, described as sixth-generation fighters, sparking concern among U.S. defense officials about the erosion of America’s techno- logical advantage. Harmer told Newsmax that while China’s advance-

ments warrant concern, he believes some of the publi- cized capabilities may be exaggerated. Securing the $50 billion contract to build the F-47 is a

huge boost for aerospace giant Boeing, which had been losing billions of dollars from its struggling civilian and defense programs. The F-47 is expected to operate with artificial intel- ligence-enabled drones that will fly alongside manned aircraft, carrying out complex operations and extending the capabilities of the manned platforms. This pairing of manned and unmanned aircraft is

seen as the future of air combat, allowing the U.S. to proj- ect power globally while minimizing the risk to pilots.

specifications remain classified, here’s what we know so far. Extended Range: The F-47 is expected

to have a much longer operational range compared to previous fighters, enabling it to conduct deep-penetration missions without requiring frequent refueling.

incorporate next-generation stealth technology to evade detection by enemy radar and air defense systems. Autonomous Coordination: It will be

capable of operating alongside drone swarms, coordinating their actions to overwhelm enemy defenses. Enhanced Survivability: The F-47 is being designed to be more maintainable and deployable with reduced logistical requirements, making it easier to sustain in combat scenarios. Cost-Eficiency: While the initial cost of the program raised concerns, USAF

oficials have stated that the F-47 will be cheaper to produce and maintain than the F-22, allowing for larger fleet acquisitions. With test flights expected before the end of the decade, the F-47 is set to enter service in the early 2030s. President Donald Trump: “Nothing in the

world comes even close to it. America’s enemies will never see it coming.” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth: “It sends a very direct, clear message to our allies that we’re not going anywhere and to our enemies that we can, and we will, be able to project power around the globe, unimpeded, for generations to come.”
