In 2019 Cognex will continue to expand its product range of machine vision systems for industrial and logistics applications, leveraging the latest developments in deep learning and 2D/3D vision technology. Te firm has plans for products with higher processing speed, improved image formation, smaller form factor and better ease-of-use to configure and deploy its systems – which support manufacturers, machine builders, integrators, logistics providers and online retailers. www.cognex.com


Emergent Vision Technologies is about to go into production with its 25GigE line of area scan cameras, which so far includes a 12 megapixel and 50 megapixel camera. Te firm will also add Sony Pregius sensors to the line-up in 2019, including a 30 megapixel sensor. https://emergentvisiontec.com


Framos will put more emphasis on embedded vision over the coming year. Te company’s engineering team will focus on sensor modules, as well intellectual property, such as the SLVS-EC IP Core for Xilinx FPGAs, imaging algorithms, and system-on-chips (SoCs). JAI’s product roadmap for the end of 2018 and the start of 2019 includes a range of new industrial area scan and line scan cameras. Tis includes a prism-based RGB colour line scan camera with 3 x 4,096 pixels based on a backwards-compatible 10GBase-T GigE Vision interface. Te interface is backwards compatible down to NBase-T (5Gb/s and 2.5Gb/s) and 1,000Base-T (1Gb/s). Other cameras in JAI’s roadmap are low noise,


high-sensitivity prism RGB colour area scan cameras in the Apex series with 3 x 3.2 megapixel and 1.6 megapixel resolution. Tese cameras will be fine-tuned for bright field and fluorescence microscopy, as well as microscopy-based vision systems in industrial production. Te cameras will be compatible with ImagePro and μManager image analysis soſtware packages.

Matrix Vision is going to introduce a cost- effective and compact board-level camera for embedded vision. Te hardware design means it can be adapted to different assembly situations and computer connections. Te board-level camera includes the back-


illuminated 6.4-megapixel rolling shutter Starvis sensor from Sony. Tis means that the light is absorbed directly by the photodiodes, instead of first having to pass through several different layers


Edmund Optics plans to release a series of M12 lenses that include Varioptic’s liquid lenses as part of the optical design. Tese lenses will offer superior image quality and an f-number of f/2.4. Liquid lenses enable optical parameters to


be changed flexibly and quickly in automated processes that feature rapid changes in working distance, without physical changes to the lens or object. Edmund Optics’ existing Mercury telecentric


lenses feature Optotune’s liquid lenses, which allow the user to focus quickly on different working distances without significant impact on the magnification. Tis addresses the growing demand for telecentric lenses as tools for measurement and gauging applications. www.edmundoptics.eu
