Roadmap 2018/19

Bright Future

Embedded vision, 3D, developments in optics, defence applications and hyperspectral imaging are all focus areas for the machine vision companies surveyed here going into 2019

Troughout 2019 Active Silicon intends to expand its embedded expertise, as well as its offerings of frame grabbers. Te firm will be launching its new Harrier

series of camera interface boards, designed to provide low-latency 3G-SDI and HD-SDI video across long cable lengths. Ideal for pipeline inspection, surveillance and industrial vision in general, these boards will offer an interface solution that supports HD-VLC, and enable long-reach high-definition video transmission. Active Silicon has also invested in

strengthening its CoaXPress frame grabber range to meet the increasing data transfer rates required in machine vision. Following the launch of its latest FireBird single CXP-6 board – designed to address both the lower cost volume market and high-end requirements – dual and quad options will also soon be added to this range. Tese new boards will offer faster processing at less expense, while maintaining all the benefits of the existing FireBird series. Alongside these, the company is involved in setting the CoaXPress v2.0 standard and already has CXP-10 and -12 boards under development. www.activesilicon.com

Adaptive Vision will further extend its standard soſtware suite with powerful deep learning tools. To date, Adaptive Vision has released

four deep learning tools: feature detection, anomaly detection, instance segmentation, and classification. Tese come not only as standalone tools, but also as part of a comprehensive soſtware suite that already includes traditional 2D and 3D tools, image acquisition interfaces, an HMI designer, and a powerful graphical development environment for machine vision engineers. Te firm’s current development plan also

includes new features in the programming model: event-based HMI programming and user-defined parallel execution of several algorithm blocks. Deep learning has been a hot topic in 2018 and

the next year will be no different, according to Adaptive Vision, as the technology is emerging as a major breakthrough on the machine vision market. It is also a solution to vision problems that were not previously solvable. www.adaptive-vision.com

44 Imaging and Machine Vision Europe • Yearbook 2018/2019

In 2019 Automation Technology plans to focus on two product series that it will be presenting at Vision 2018 in Stuttgart this November. Te first will be the infrared cameras of the IRSX series – intelligent, self- contained thermal imaging systems that are designed for industrial use. Te web-based configuration interface and result display of the cameras make setup for thermal monitoring tasks simple, and their numerous interfaces enable direct communication with the process control. Te IRSX series covers a wide range of

applications with its variety of models that offer different fields of view and resolutions. Specific apps are already available for some applications, such as quality control in plastic welding, condition monitoring of substations and early fire detection. Te company plans to introduce additional apps in the future. Te second product is the MCS series of

high-speed 3D sensors, which Automation Technology will allow customers to configure themselves. www.automationtechnology.de

Aſter continuing to grow and consolidate its market share in 2018, its 25th anniversary, in 2019 Bitflow will be working on the development of new frame grabbers to meet the demands of the industry – with plans to release a CXP-12 frame grabber for production. Tis year the success of Bitflow’s Axion-

CL frame grabber line has increased, as the majority of its customers have transitioned over from the Karbon-CL line, which is reaching the end of its life. Te company is expanding its CoaXPress presence in the market, while also assisting existing customers that are looking to make the move to CoaXPress. Te Aon- CXP, single link, CoaXPress frame grabber is Bitflow’s latest release and is attracting users of single-link CoaXPress cameras. Te firm is always looking at new markets for frame grabber applications. www.bitflow.com
