LASERS AND DIODES Pixea-analytics picosecond laser

The Pixea-analytics is a versatile picosecond laser based on gain-switched laser diode. Available for a large variety of centre wavelengths from 375 to 1,990nm, the Pixea generates ultrashort laser pulses down to 30ps with extremely- low timing jitter and excellent beam quality. The user-friendly interface

Fibre-coupled quantum cascade lasers

MirSense, a European quantum cascade laser (QCL) manufacturer, has introduced fibre-coupled QCLs to facilitate the use of lasers by clients. The new fibre-coupled DFBs and Fabry-Perot laser product line cover the full mid-IR range from 3 to 10µm with standard FC-PC connectors. This new product adds to the portfolio of MirSense: DFBs (UniMirTM), Fabry- Perots (PowerMirTM), trace gas sensors (MultiSenseTM). Performance parameters include: weak absorption of the fibre (typically 0,5dB per metre); Gaussian output beam; adjustable numerical opening of the fibre depending on the geometry (typically between 0.4 and 0.8); typical fibre length of 1m out of the package (typically HHL or butterfly 14 pins package). The lasers allow for easier laser

integration and negate the need for open space beams with complex optics. www.mirsense.com

Prodigii laser module

ProPhotonix launched its Prodigii digital laser module at Photonics West. The laser module has been designed to

withstand even the most challenging of operating environments. It can be controlled and monitored through a digital RS485 communication interface providing laser output control and performance monitoring. Integral thermal management ensures excellent output wavelength stabilisation with enhanced diode life due to superior output power control and the ability to maintain consistent power levels.

SENSORS AND DETECTORS AQ2200-232 sensor head

The AQ2200-232 is a new high- performance optical sensor head which joins Yokogawa’s existing family of optical power meter modules (AQ2200-215 and AQ2200-221) in the company’s modular optical test platform. The sensor head is used in conjunction with the dual-port

allows tuning the repetition rate from ‘single shot’ up to 80MHz and also the pulse width from the picosecond to the nanosecond range. Very well-designed, the high performance and the modern interface of the Pixea-analytics make it an essential tool for any accurate time

Skyra multi-line laser

Cobolt, a part of Hübner Photonics, has released the Cobolt Skyra, a multi-line laser platform. With up to four wavelengths permanently aligned in a single compact package (70 x 134 x 38mm) and requiring no external electronics, the multi-line laser will enable the next generation of compact and easy-to-use analytical instrumentation for the life science market.

The laser is built using Cobolt’s proprietary

HTCure manufacturing technology for robustness in a compact, hermetically sealed package. HTCure results in an ultra-stable, permanent alignment of optical elements, with very precise and stable overlap of the combined output beams. As a

Prodigii incorporates a fast-start operation and allows for continuous performance monitoring. The new digital laser platform is available in

a range of wavelengths from 405 to 850nm. Output powers of up 500mW continuous wave or 1W pulsed are available. The Prodigii laser module can be configured as a uniform line generator for 3D measurement applications or with a focused elliptical output beam for analytical, spectroscopic or high-precision alignment applications. The platform is ideally suited to high-speed automated inspection

AQ2200-202 interface module, and is targeted at making accurate measurements in challenging applications, such as power testing of laser chips in free space light, I/L curve measurement of laser-diode modules and multicore fibre measurements (with an MPO connector adapter). Key features are a 5mm

diameter cooled detector – ideal for measurements in free space – a wavelength measurement range from 800 to 1,700nm, and a power measurement range of +15 to -90dBm. It also offers excellent uncertainty of ±1.8 per cent and high stability with constant temperature control. www.yokogawa.com
