The Spanish Society of Optics to celebrate 50th anniversary at XII Spanish meeting of optics
SedOptica, the Spanish Society of Optics, will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2018 during the Spanish meeting of optics (Reunión Nacional de Óptica, RNO2018). Held every three years since 1988, the event aims to bring together various players in the optics and photonics field, including researchers, technicians, teachers, students, and entrepreneurs. This year’s meeting will
be held from 3 to 6 July at the Universitat Jaume I, Castellón. Previous editions saw international researchers

presenting at the congress on their recent activities. This interaction was very important to strengthen the scientific links with the international community.
RNO2018 will be a special
occasion, celebrating the Spanish Society of Optics’ 50th anniversary. There have been many significant changes in Spain since its foundation in 1968. Nowadays, photonics science and technologies constitute a renewed field of research and development that currently represents a large proportion of scientific and
innovative activity in Spain. The ceremony marking the society’s 50th anniversary will be held on the morning of Friday 6 July. We would like to see representatives of scientific societies of optics, as well as other twinned societies, be present at the ceremony and share with the rest of the Spanish community this very significant day.
On behalf of Professor
Jesús Lancis, general chair of the RNO2018, and Professor Ignacio Moreno, president of Sedoptica, we invite you to join us as we work to prepare an attractive programme. l More information at the official web pages:
