letter from the publisher T
his Special Food Edition focuses on healthy ethnic edibles and food for
thought. I believe: You are what you eat—and what you think. I love fresh, seasonal and locally-
prepared ethnic meals. I do not struggle with being a vegetarian. (I cannot consume
anything with a face or a painful life/death.) However, my husband does. He admits he always feels better when his meals are plant-based. Yet, his dilemma: “Am I getting enough protein?” T e Protein Question is the most common among new
vegans, too. T ankfully, Dr. Daniel T omas has much experience and advice on nutrition. He reports on the 3 Common Misconceptions about protein and how to easily get enough without eating meat and dairy. Also, if your protein intake is too high, beware: the negative side eff ects are detrimental. His article “T e Truth About Protein” (p17) is a must-read for all ages. Another favorite article gives us food for thought.
Springtime is perfect for cleansing and renewal. Author Paige Reist inspires me with 5 helpful ways to make your life wonderous again. I especially resonate with her tip: “Stop Accepting the Mundane.” She shares, “Assess habits honestly and choose meaningful substance over comfort, ease and familiarity.” Right on, I say! T is brings me to remind you: T ere are so many new, fun
things to do in Central Florida, and this is the perfect time to get outside! Check out our calendar (pp 29-35).
Happy Spring!
