fter early  years, lodie are still touring – Against The Odds

escheduled from ovember , Blondie are back in ardiff five years on from their last visit. The iconic new wave group, who formed in 1974 and cut their teeth in New York’s embryonic punk scene, have dubbed their 10-date UK tour Against The Odds and are joined by Johnny Marr – a replacement for alt-rock stalwarts Garbage, who already had plans for the revised dates.

ronted by arguably one of the greatest and most inuential frontwomen of the last century, ebbie Harry leads the si- piece group as they perform tracks from a discography spanning five decades and multiple genres. Think the disco-oriented Heart Of Glass from 1978’s essential Parallel Lines, of course, but also less heralded yet praiseworthy moments like the rock and pop-blending 1999 comeback Maria. Eleventh and latest record, 2017’s Pollinator, returned to the quintessential Blondie sound.

With support from Johnny Marr, this show amounts to an impressive night with some of the most revered names of alternative music’s storied history. arr’s own etensive back catalogue begins with The Smiths’ finest and ends – to date – with his most recent solo release, Fever Dreams Pts 1-4; his inimitable guitar playing is a guest feature on Pollinator to boot. In a rare opportunity to see such as a strong combination of classic acts, it’s certainly not one to be missed.
