Machynlleth Comedy Festival
Various venues, Machynlleth, Fri 29 Apr-Sun 1 May
There’s set to be plenty of laughs in Machynlleth over the May Day weekend, with Nish Kumar, James Acaster, Isy Suttie and more appearing across the weekend. The various shows are located all across this small market town, and you simply buy tickets for the ones you want to attend.
There are a range of local shops and a larger Co-op so you can stock up during the weekend, or if you feel like eating and drinking out instead there are pubs, cafes and restaurants. ou can stay at the official festival campsite in town, go for a yurt for added comfort, or find private accommodation in or ust outside of Machynlleth.
By train, the town is a little over three hours from Cardiff and 35 minutes from Aberyswyth, and it’s ust five minutes from the station to the centre of town – and the comedy action. As well as comedy, there’s music all weekend at the Beech Bar, free performances on the woodland pavilion, and a free interactive family programme in the kid's tent.
Many of the shows will have an age limit, so it’s worth checking if you’re bringing the whole family, but there are plenty of shows targeted at children too, so there’s something for everyone. Saturday brings with it the family-friendly WiFi Wars Interactive Game Show and a family game show from Marcel Lupont, while on Sunday, there’s Jo Neary’s Stinky McFish and the World’s Worst Wish puppet show, and Clwb Carco, where a variety of Welsh comedians put on a show ust for the kids and their parents.
