Bristol Folk Festival returns in 2019 after a couple of years’ break, to be held in St George’s, Bristol Folk House and St Stephen’s on 3rd – 5th May. Confirmed acts so far include Cara Dillon, Kris Drever, Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys, Lady Maisery, Spiro and Grace Petrie.


Ireby Festival (24th – 25th May) announces its line-up including Seth Lakeman, Coco And The Butterfields, Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys, Imar, Calan, Midnight Skyracer, Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar, The Goat Roper Rodeo Band, Will Pound & Eddy Jay, Smith and McClennan, The Shackleton Trio, Emily Mae Winters, Elaine Davidson, Luke Daniels, Molly Evans, Hadrian’s Union, John Havelock, Louise Peacock’s Young Folk Ensemble, Will Finn & Rosie Calvert, Ben Gates and Ian Douglas.


A brand new one-day festival


The Gathering (1st Jun) has been announced for Inverness, with a line-up including Tide Lines, The Vatersay Boys, Elephant Sessions, Hò-rò, Siobhan Miller, Torridon, The Trad Project, and the City Of Inverness Youth Pipe Band.


Elephant At The Castle (28th – 30th Jun) at Mulgrave Castle, Whitby combines the programming of the annual Musicport festival with a special celebration of the work and life of Norma Waterson MBE to mark her 80th birthday. Artists to be announced soon.


Warwick Folk Festival (25th – 28th Jul) which celebrates its 40th year in 2019, has announced Will Pound as its new Patron.


Cambridge Folk Festival (1st – 4th Aug) has announced that local lad Nick Mulvey will be returning to Cambridge in 2019 as the Festival’s guest curator. Among the first artist names confirmed are this issue’s cover star Sam Sweeney, Lucinda Williams, Richard Thompson, Ralph McTell, Tunng, Karine Polwart, Lisa O’Neill, Lil’ Jimmy Reed & The A-Team, José Gonzalez, Talisk, Nancy Kerr & James Fagan, Rura and Nick Mulvey himself.


Purbeck Valley Folk Festival (15th – 18th Aug) have revealed the 2019 line-up including Afro Celt Sound System, Cara Dillon,
