NEWS Trade Firestop launch

TRELLEBORG HAS launched a new generation of its Firestop material, which is fire resistant passive protection that is ‘thinner and lighter’

than ‘any

current’ such protection. The product is aimed at offshore oil and gas markets, and is a rubber based compound ‘that can withstand severe fire scenarios’.

Reportedly,

the Firestop material can ‘easily be moulded and extruded in all shapes and profiles’, and can ‘reduce both costs and lead time’ for

information,

customers. For more please visit

Test success IN A test, Pyroguard’s Rapide fire safety glass achieved a ‘significant increase’ in both evidence and scope for use in fire door applications. Rapide achieved ‘successful integrity and radiation’ fire performance of 80 minutes, which is 20 minutes longer ‘when compared to the current test requirement’. The glass can also be cut by hand ‘with no additional preparation required’, and offers ‘full UV stability and exceptional visual quality’ for both internal and external applications.

Approval met

TYCO HAS seen its EG-25 sprinkler guard become the

first on the market to

meet FM Global design guidelines and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements. This covers areas where sprinklers are ‘exposed to potential damage’, with the welded assembly made from carbon steel, and the guard does not require regularly scheduled maintenance. Advanced, said: ‘We are delighted that Advanced products have been specified for such a high-profile installation. Meyer Bergman is one of the world’s largest development companies and it’s great to add them to our global client portfolio. ‘MxPro panels are the ideal choice

for this type of installation, combining proven reliability with innovation and ease of use.’

Siemens to install fire safety at airport redevelopment

International Airport in New York City, ‘one of the busiest airports in the US’. Its part in the redevelopment will see it install

‘integrated building

automation and fire safety’ technology in Central Terminal B, with this ‘intelligent infrastructure solution’ utilising Siemens’ Desigo

CC building management

platform to monitor building automation. This will allow for ‘dynamic control’ of systems, while the Desigo Fire XLS-V fire alarm panel will be used in the terminal and the central plant ‘at the heart of the fire alarm system’. Ted Jadermark,

airport system

manager with Skanska Walsh Joint Venture, Siemens’ partner on the project, said: ‘The vision for the new terminal includes an enriched passenger experience by reducing delays at the gate and moving all passengers more safely and efficiently throughout the airport.

Integrating Siemens building automation and fire safety systems as we construct the new facility gives us the ability to manage and monitor its dynamic daily operations with the increased confidence necessary to protect the comfort and safety of LaGuardia’s passengers.’ Dave Hopping, president of Siemens

Building Technologies North America, added:

‘We’re extremely proud to

play such a key role in modernising LaGuardia Airport, and in helping create the perfect place to travel efficiently and safely.’
