funding, his flying experience and much more. We had a chance to ask questions and look over the facilities before they were called out on another “mission” which we hope was successful and saved more lives. prominent yellow jerseys! We can honestly say that our endeavours were well rewarded as not only did we managed to collect some money towards our £1,000 target for this initiative, but more importantly on this occasion we were able to promote Rotary and the club to an entirely new audience.

COWBRIDGE
Following the induction of our new President Michael Long, Cowbridge Rotary has been in full swing. The new year kicked off with an adventure trail quiz through Cowbridge’s Old Hall gardens and Physic garden bringing club members and partners together for a social gathering. Dr Mark Briggs entertained us with some graphic details of his work on Cell and Gene Therapy at the Welsh Blood Service and our Sunday car boot sales continue to attract customers with a record takings of £721 achieved on a glorious day in July. A Dementia Friendly sub group has been established to build on the work carried out in previous years and Dementia Friendly entrance mats have recently been distributed to 3 organisations in the town. DINAS POWIS
Dinas Powis Rotary has visited local primary schools to take part in Year 6 Leavers Assemblies and present graduating students with their own personal illustrated dictionary. The club has been taking part in the Dictionaries 4 Life project for 10 years. The presentation is an established part of the Leavers Assemblies.
Each dictionary has space to inscribed the recipient’s name, making it a very personal gift that the Year 6 Leaver can keep. There is even a page for friends to write messages, it is this personal touch which will encourage pupils to keep the book for years to come and learn from it. Each letter has its own coloured page to make it easier for youngsters to look up words and the accompanying illustrations bring the book to life.
This year the club has presented dictionar- ies to 170 Year 6 Leavers.

LLANDEILO
Club President Richard Hughes presents a
£700 cheque to nurses Samantha Evans and Dawn Bowen of the Carmarthen Oncology Fund.
This fund is raising money to purchase scalp cooling equipment which will help to prevent hair loss during chemotherapy treatment.
Llandeilo Rotary was one of the charities selected by the Co-op Community fund and thanks to their generosity the club was able to present the cheque to the Oncology fund. The club also presented a £700 cheque to Marie James of the Carmarthenshire Autistic Society. The money will be used to finance swimming sessions at Pant Glas, the annual Christmas party, soft play and lego sessions. These activities help the society’s family members meet on a regular basis and share experiences providing the families with the help and support they need.
Llandeilo Rotary Club would like to say a big thank you to the Co-op Communiity Fund for providing these funds which makes a difference to the lives of these families.
