members were keen to have butchers in the title. Having the publication Craſt Butcher and reflecting our member’s skill it also seemed natural to have the word craſt. Policy Director William


Lloyd Williams put forward the proposition to change the name to National Craſt Butchers which was supported unanimously by board members present. Troughout its history the

AT meetings of the Executive Council before and aſter Christmas, President Mettrick discussed with board members the possibility of changing the Federation’s name to National Craſt Butchers. You may ask why change?

members have experienced difficulties in explaining to non-members and the food media who the National Federation of Meat and Food


Federation has changed its name to reflect a changing trade. In 1888 the Federation started as the National Federation of Butchers Associations (NFBA). In 1908 it became the National Federation of Meat Traders(NFMT) and in 1994 changed again to the National Federation of Meat and Food Traders (NFMFT). President Mettrick says


“Te name National Craſt Butchers reflects who we are, be it in retail, wholesale, catering, processing or slaughtering. We are all craſtsmen and proud to be butchers!" John Mettrick hopes you,


the members, think the name change is a good idea and makes it more obvious that we are butchers and more visible to the media. n
