To mark the 40th Anniversary of Elvis Presley’s untimely death we will be showing the 1970 documentary film about the King’s Summer Festival in Las Vegas during August 1970. It was his first non-dramatic film since the beginning of his film career in
1956, and the film gives a clear view of Presley’s return to live performances after years of making films. Some things to consider for our outdoor cinema screenings: – This is a free seating event, you are expected to provide your own blankets/cushions and dress according to the weather – If you are bringing picnic chairs, we request you sit at the back to avoid obstructing others view – Picnics are welcome with the expectation all rubbish is discarded in bins provided, but there will be a café open should you wish to purchase drinks, alcohol and confectionary – In the event of bad weather, the film may be screened inside our medieval Tythe Barn. Please call on the day if you would like to receive an update on this – Should the film be screened outdoors and the weather changes to rain, the film will not be stopped and will continue to be screened outdoors (excluding extreme circumstances)! Summer Exhibition • Until 9th Sept • Albany Gallery
The summer exhibition at Cardiff’s Albany Gallery is a chance to see the latest work from a huge range of gallery artists, from seasoned regular exhibitors to exciting newcomers. It includes diverse and beautiful coastal scenes from artists such as Peter Kettle and Tim Fudge, plus exquisite portraits and still life paintings, sculpture, landscapes and bold abstracts. Peter Kettle is one of the gallery’s most significant up-and-coming
young artists, having been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and the Royal Cambrian Academy (RCA) in 2014. He was identified as ‘One to Watch’ by Moneyweek Magazine. Tim Fudge’s work is immediately identifiable thanks to his fluid brush strokes and strong use of colour. The Pembrokeshire-based artist is well known for his depictions of the Welsh coast, and he has contributed several such paintings to this show. Taking a different technical approach is David Porteous-Butler, who paints using a palette knife. A former pupil of celebrated palette knife painter Sir Kyffin Williams, David went against Kyffin’s advice when he started painting with a palette knife. Fortunately, he hasn’t looked back. His work reveals an honest and direct affinity with his subject that is driven by his love of the natural world. Other significant exhibitors to look out for in this show are Sarah Carvell, whose main subject matter is the landscape that surrounds her in North Wales; and exciting newcomer Lara Smith, whose vibrant, expressive work is expected to be very well received.

Savoy Family Cajun Band • 26 Jul • Taliesin Arts Centre
Marc and Ann Savoy and their two sons Joel and Wilson are the first family of Cajun music, but fame and fancy titles aren’t their thing. Despite having played on some of the biggest stages in the world, they know that Cajun’s true spirit is more likely to be found at the jam sessions back at the famous Savoy Music Centre in Los Angeles. And yet, that spirit really does inspire the family’s performances and
soaks through their raw, sensual, and expert renditions of the some of the best Cajun music you are ever likely to hear.

The decay of Rome reaches violent depths in Shakespeare’s most bloody play. Titus is a ruler exhausted by war and loss, who relinquishes power but leaves Rome in disorder. Rape, cannibalism and severed body parts fill the moral void at the heart of this corrupt society. Shakespeare’s gory revenge
