DONATION HELPS CLUB SAIL THE SEVERN SEAS
David Wilson Homes present Tornbury Sailing Club with the donation cheque
Thornbury Sailing Club is set for an upgrade in 2018 thanks to a donation from local housebuilder David Wilson Homes. The company, which is building new homes nearby at its Park Farm development, has donated £1,500 to help fund improvements at the club. The money could help with the organisation’s rolling programme of clubhouse maintenance or even the purchase of new equipment for those learning to sail.
Thornbury Sailing Club is based on the banks of the River Severn at Oldbury Pill and helps hundreds of people get out on the water every year. Its members regularly compete in regattas and events and the club is also an official RYA (Royal Yachting Association) training provider. Louise Ware, sales director at David Wilson Homes, said: “Thornbury Sailing Club does a fantastic job helping people to enjoy the thrill of sailing

and we’re particularly proud of its work in the community getting more young people out on the water. It’s our pleasure to be able to support our neighbours as we work to bring quality new homes to the area.” Rob Hudson, a member of Thornbury Sailing Club, added: “We’re thrilled with the donation from David Wilson Homes. Usually we have to fund our projects from membership fees so this will allow us to free up that money for even more improvements to the club in 2018.” The donation was made possible through David Wilson Homes’ commitment to supporting the areas it works in.
