House-hunting for 2018 has started in earnest
Like most clichés it remains true: the New Year is a time for taking stock and making changes to your life, including where you live. For many people, the search for their perfect pad starts aſter Christmas and this year looks like no exception. Rightmove, for example, says that its early figures indicate a busy start to 2018 – with visits to its website up by an average of over nine per cent between January 1 and 10 compared to the same period last year and averaging over four million visits per day. It’s a trend that housebuilder Bellway Wales is also experiencing, with an influx of prospective purchasers visiting developments across South Wales and Gloucestershire since the start of the year.
Many are first-time buyers looking to take advantage of the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme, while homeowners with a property to sell are interested in the benefits of Bellway’s Part Exchange or Express Mover schemes, which take away the stress involved in selling a property. Jobs and homes boost as housebuilder announces new developments in locations across South Wales
In a major boost to the economy in South Wales, leading housebuilder Barratt Developments, which includes Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, has announced it will open six new developments this year creating around 700 new homes and underpinning more than 2,000 local jobs. Following a successful year at locations across the region, Barratt plans to lay the foundations for new communities in Blackmill, Radyr, Bridgend, Boverton, and Dinas Powys together with additional phases in Barry where it is already building new homes. “Wherever we build new homes, we make a point of employing local sub-contractors and tradespeople wherever possible,” said sales director Richard Lawson. “And that means extra work for people and businesses in the surrounding area. “Our decision to construct so many new homes is based on the

response we’ve received from buyers over the past 12 months.
