Housebuilder supports school cycling with Dr Bike visit

Schoolchildren in St Athan have had their bikes serviced and repaired thanks to support from leading housebuilder Barratt Homes. The

five star housebuilder commissioned Cycle

Training Wales to head to St Athan Primary School where 26 bikes were serviced as part of its Dr Bike, mobile mechanic initiative.

The visit was part of Barratt Homes’ support of grass roots cycling in South Wales which aims to encourage more children to take up cycling, cycle safely and even be inspired to take up cycling as a sport. “We are always keen to support grass roots sport in South Wales and have previously sponsored a number of rugby and football initiatives,” said Barratt Homes

sales director Richard Lawson. “A number of our developments are close to amazing cycle routes and working with Cycle Training Wales is a great opportunity to help more youngsters enjoy life on two wheels and hopefully explore the great cycling Wales has to offer.” Andrew Burns from Cycle Training Wales said the support of Barratt Homes means it can provide servicing and cycle training at a number of schools in South Wales.

“It’s great to see a company like Barratt give such great support to grass roots cycling and we hope that our courses will mean cycling becomes a way of life for these children,” said Andrew.
