HOW DO YOU CHOOSE THE RIGHT YACHT TRANSPORT COMPANY?

We started the

Superyacht Tenders and Toys rental division in response to consumer demand. With the expectations of charter guests continually rising and changing, the hire of toys rather than the financial commitment of purchase makes perfect sense. There are numerous benefits, the main being the ability to provide charter guests with a wider than usual selection of watersports. Giving a personalised experience whilst impressing with the latest toys and models should, in turn, maximise charter income. All yachts experience last-minute guest requests and changes to plans. With our rental service, we can deliver and pick up toys anywhere at short notice. In an effort to keep environmental impact down, all rental toys from SYTT are electric or inflatable, which are also efficient to maintain. Aside from charter benefits, hiring toys also gives you the perfect opportunity to ‘try before you buy’.

FLIR Thermal imaging cameras turn night into day, instantly revealing a vessel’s surroundings for collision avoidance and safe night-time navigation. With optical zoom, video tracking, 360° Pan & Tilt and an unparalleled range of 15.4kms our cameras can detect, track and raise alarm of any object or person to increase your safety. Remote connectivity also allows you to connect to the cameras through video- over-IP, further enhancing your yacht’s security. Our top of the range M400 and M500 models represent the latest in cutting edge thermal imaging technology. Standard features include gyro stabilisation, long- range target detection and a built-in spotlight. The M500 boasts a cooled thermal detector to increase its sensitivity, resulting in impressive image quality. With FLIR technology on board, you can navigate safely, detect and be protected against any intrusions.

The first thing to consider is that the information and structure of your CV is very different for a shoreside role. You need to spend time translating everything that you did in your role on-board into shore-based language. We get sent a number of crew CVs for shore-based roles that are not fit for purpose. Other things to consider are that pay will usually differ and tax will probably be applied to your take home pay. It is also important to point out that when applying for a shore-based role you need to be able to identify why you are relevant for that role and that’s usually based on your skill set, your personality as well as your knowledge of the industry and your experience working on yachts. Last but not least, I’d always advise to invest time in yourself in training and development and come with a realistic mindset that you might have to take one step back before you take two steps forward.

What then are the most important things to consider when choosing the best company to move your pride and joy as safely and quickly as possible? It’s important to choose a company that has a proven track record of delivering the best service for its customers. Experience is key when you are moving something so valuable and the larger the company, the more extensive their network of global offices and agents will be, ensuring you get the best support and smoothest delivery, no matter where in the world you are moving your yacht. A good transport company will have a knowledgeable technical team who are able to share details such as the lift and stow plan and discuss technical aspects well in advance with you to ensure accurate planning. They will offer all aspects of yacht logistics, whether it is shipping the yacht or its tender to new sailing grounds or delivering urgent spares or handling customs clearance formalities.
