well as those neglected due either to extreme remoteness or to re- ligious and social discrimination (mostly of Christians, when in the minority, and of some Dalits where caste-based discrimination continues). We pray for blessing on our Gospel ministry also in these new places. Many emergency supplies


have been sourced from India, being transported in hired lorries. The build- ing of Canaan Reformed Baptist Church in Pokhara has served as a depot for the distribution of supplies. Smaller 4-W-D trucks have been hired for relief convoys which have been accompanied by numer- ous volunteers, ‘uniformed’ in distinctive red T-shirts, to defend against looting and give practical help and distribute goods safely. To date we have served over 8,000 families in 52 communities. We have distributed 10,000 relief packs (rice, oil, dhal, salt, noodles, biscuits, tarpaulins, blankets, mattress rolls and a fi rst aid kit). We have supplied many tents and also bundles of zinc metal sheeting for home repair and construction of tem- porary shelters. Other items supplied include small solar panels, medicines and water sterilizers. In some places we have helped to bury the dead, to open wells and to run piped water supplies from mountain
