Sword & Trowel 2015: Issue 1 CHURCH PLANT IN EASTERN GHANA

Update from Pastor Ferguson Kcofi e, Truth Missionary Baptist Church, Accra

Truth Missionary Baptist Church, Accra: We receive visitors every Lord’s Day. Some of these come from other churches, some invited by our members, and others come through our website: www.re- formedproject.org. Two examples are a young lady struggling with author- ity at home because her mother is a charismatic ‘pastor’, which she sees as unbiblical; and a young man who was searching for more on the re- formed faith and found our website. We also have foreign visitors from many places who have been recom- mended to us or have found our website and whose presence at our services is always encouraging. New Bortianor Sunday School: Our Sunday School ministry at New Bortianor is growing steadily. Aver- age attendance now exceeds 200. Many come on their own, others we bring in by minibus and car, and we could collect more if we had the capacity to do so. We thank the Lord for these children. Church Plant at Koforidua:

By God’s grace and with the help of Rev Charlie Luther (now returned to the USA), we have planted Grace Reformed Baptist Church, Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It is led by Pastor Isaac Anang Mensah with a current attendance of about 20 adults. We have registered the church with the authorities and have been

enabled, through gifts, to buy land for a building. Pastor Anang Mensah has a ministry to the deaf, having formerly worked with a deaf brother at Landmark Baptist Church, Teshie. He visits the Koforidua School for the Deaf weekly to preach in sign lan- guage. We recently presented some Bibles to the school. I visit Koforidua every third Sunday of the month for the morning service (two and a half hours’ drive each way) and try to be at New Bortianor Sunday School in the afternoon and preach in the even- ing in Accra. Reformed Baptist Pastors’ Frater-

nal: Last year we started a fraternal where a number of us who studied at the Tabernacle meet to encourage ourselves in the reformed faith, see- ing we are in many ways pioneering it in Ghana. We pray also for the Lord’s blessing on our ever-daunting task of reaching the lost. These meet- ings have led to the holding of the Accra Reformed Baptist Conference, hosted by our church, the second of which was held this summer. Ministerial Training: One of our

young men, Evans Atiglah, is evi- dently called to the ministry and his training began in September. He is a Sunday School teacher in Accra and
