New Makita line lasers

Both Makita’s new self-levelling 12V Max Cross Line CXT models, the SK105DZ red laser (pictured), and the SK105GDZ green laser, are designed to offer clear line visibility of up to 25m and 35m respectively, and 80m with the detector laser in pulse mode, a function that

helps to reduce battery consumption. The manufacturer says that the increased return of the cross lines in vertical, horizontal and tilt

directions, in both locked and unlocked functions, means that the projection of the lines is not only visible to the front surface, but also projected back across the ceiling, floor and side walls, and even the stairs of a room, making them suitable for stud work or pipe work applications. Two further Makita Class 2 self-levelling 4 Point Cross Line Laser CXT models, the SK106DZ

red laser and the SK106GDZ green laser, offer the same functions and benefits but are dot lasers. They project plumb dots as well as a full line for exact measuring references between different points with a point accuracy of +/-2mm/m.

Scanprobe’s TrapJumper is a lightweight, compact pipeline inspection system designed to be flexible enough to handle tight 180º bends and continue to be pushed through the pipeline. It can be transported and operated by a single user and folds up for storage. The company says that such equipment can enable contractors to bring pipeline inspection

tasks in-house for improved efficiency, and believes that more mortgage lenders are requiring that pre-purchase assessments are made at properties.

Topcon Positioning Group has introduced a new generation of scanning robotic total stations, the GTL-1000. A compact scanner integrated with a robotic total station, the system is designed to offer a powerful instrument for single-operator layout and scan on a single set-up. The innovative instrument includes a complete robotic

total station that provides full-featured layout functionality with single operator control. The system is designed to build upon proven prism tracking and accuracy that allows operators to confidently layout points in challenging construction environments. Users can initiate a scan with the press of a single button. After processing with Magnet Collage software, the workflow is completed with ClearEdge3D

Verity, a program designed to automate construction verification. “The seamless integration of the GTL-1000 and Verity creates a complete package that is perfect for construction verification using 3D modelling techniques,” said Ray Kerwin, Director of Global Product Planning. “The result is a system that offers ultra-powerful full-dome scanning to quickly capture duct

work, columns, beams, girders, flaps, penetrations and structural steel. It helps to improve quality assurance, providing clear visual indication of construction quality heat maps to minimise the effects of mistakes before they become expensive problems.”
